Newcomer Guide

Hello and welcome to the Beginners guide for Idle Rising!

In this guide meant we’ll cover some basics of the game, teach you how to make lots of gold, and give you some tips and tricks to survive the Dalaska Island.

First things first, complete the Newbie Quests—those have great rewards for newcomers, giving you a glimpse of what it’s like to live the Premium life, as well as some necessary starter gold.

Next, you need to get yourself some gear, buy every piece of worn items from the Vendor that you didn’t buy yet. The Vendor can be found in the Menu on the bottom right, then look for a blue coin icon.

Then go to the Storage tab, equip your gear brand new (or not so new) gear, and get to slaying some spooky-looking Goblins! Don’t worry, with the gear, they’ll pose no threat to a brave adventurer like you.

The menu icon is essential as we’ll see later on—most functions can be executed via it, but our first goal for now is to reach Level 10 in order to unlock the Market where you can buy and sell stuff to other players. To do that, slay Goblins as much as you can and save up all the loot you get!

To do so, click the Battle tab; at first, you’ll be very confused—Daily hunt limit? Daily auto-hunt limit? Daily battle limit? What did I get myself into?!

Don’t worry. Once you figure it out, it’s quite simple:

  1. Daily Hunt Limit—The daily hunt limit tells you how many times you’re allowed to search for enemies. It starts with 200 hunts per day and increases by 1 with every character level. Just over it, you’ll see the ‘Start Hunt’ button. Click it and see what happens; enemies soon start to appear, Goblins included!
  2. Daily Battle Limit—This tells us how many enemies (in this case, Goblins), we’re allowed to kill per day. It starts with 1000 and increases by 25 with every character level. Note that everyone shares the same cooldown, which resets daily at 00:00 UTC. Ensure you reach your daily battle limit EVERY DAY, as it’s the best way to level up quickly and make gold!
  3. Daily Auto-Hunt Limit—This option is set to 10 by default, and unlike the other two options, can’t be trained/leveled up, but you can increase it tenfold by purchasing a VIP membership; either using gold via the Market or by supporting the indie developers via an in-app purchase.
    Using auto-hunt allows you to both hunt and battle enemies automatically! However, you may not close your phone while battling unless you have VIP membership.

The number of enemies you find per hunt is based on your Hunting level, which increases by, you guessed it, Hunting! With each additional Hunting level you’ll be able to spawn an additional five enemies via every hunt!

Tip: DO NOT sell any of your loot just yet, tempting as it may be. The Vendor is a cunning merchant, and you’ll be wise to sell your items to other players through the Market, which will pay a lot more gold! For example, a Goblin Ear will net you 2 gold with the Vendor, while players sometimes pay between 50–200 gold for just one ear! That’s up to 100 times more!

Secret Tip: Once you reach your Daily Battle Limit, go to Menu → Island Map → Travel to Jada. You may be asking, what we are doing here? In the den of the Jade Dragon, not one adventurer stepped out alive. Here’s the secret: We will only be using the ‘Start Hunt’ button, WITHOUT battling any of the monsters. Why? Because it trains your hunter level the quickest, allowing you to spawn even more mobs, hurray! Remember to travel back to Florita, the starter town, after you’re done.

Alright, now let’s talk about the Work and Character button. You’re already acquainted with the former as you’ve done the tutorial, basically, you click the desired skill you want to train and have at it!

The Сharacter tab gives you a lot of valuable information: it tells you what equipment you’re wearing, how much gold and crystals (a premium currency) you have, your health, experience left to the next level and all your skill stats and bonuses that come with them!

Just under the equipment tab, of the Character menu, you’ll see something called ‘Clusters of Mastery’, sounds mysterious, right? As it goes in the legend, Through defeating the foes, one could obtain a part of their mastery. Those give you different bonuses that greatly improve your character, and some even include extra Idle Time (!).

For starters, unlock the first Cluster Slot and equip it with a Cluster of Freedom 2 that you can obtain as one of the Battle Pass rewards - it gives the most Idle Time, at least at the start of your journey. As you unlock the second cluster, DO NOT make the mistake of buying another cluster of the same name, as you can’t equip two identical clusters of the same name and number. All this assumes that you’ve unlocked the Market and that you have the gold to purchase them, and you will, since you’ve become a Master Goblin Slayer by now.

Let’s get back to the Menu tab, the first time you see it, you’ll be confused by all the different options, so let’s go through them step by step.

  1. Market and Vendor—We already know what they do! Just one important note, once you access the market, you’ll be able to filter items based on their type and effect—make use of this feature!

  2. Daily Tasks—You should ALWAYS complete ALL your daily tasks; they are quick to complete but give enormous amounts of experience and gold for you at your stage of the game. Premium membership allows you to complete an extra two daily tasks, but you don’t have to worry about getting the Premium yet, you have already received a few days just by completing the tutorial! The reason why daily tasks are so overpowered is something called Pandora Chest. You gain 1 medal for each daily task you complete, which means that in just 3 days, you’ll be able to buy yourself one! The rewards are awesome, and with a bit of luck, you could hit the jackpot and receive half a million gold, exp, and tons of crystals!

  3. Battle Pass, Premium, VIP and Crystals —These are ways to support the developers, they are not necessary to progress in the game, although they speed up things and give you more leeway. For example, Premium adds a whole extra hour to your Idle Time, along with other benefits. Click the Premium and VIP tab to learn more about prices and benefits received. The best thing about this game is that everything, except for some skins which provide no stat boosts whatsoever, can be bought with in-game currencies! The Battle Pass is a great way to earn extra Gold, Crystals, Clusters of Mastery, some other consumables and limited skins! Be sure to complete your MONTHLY Battle Pass Tasks to automatically receive the rewards based on your Battle Pass level. If you ever get confused what tasks you should do, click the Tasks button in the Battle Pass menu. Tip: Complete tasks quickly by doing skills which have low base time. For example, the Gathering task is quickly completed by gathering an item called Brushwood, just one second per action! Supporting the devs by buying the battle pass is a great way to earn extra rewards! Crystals are a currency obtainable through both the regular gameplay, and donation. They allow you to buy a variety of items, such as VIP, Premium, Battle Pass, and more. Crystals should be used wisely; many players gamble their crystals on cluster summons, however, they are good to keep for Guilds, which we’ll cover soon. Tip: Wait for Sunday to buy Crystals, you get DOUBLE the crystals at the same price!

  4. Cluster Summons—those are basically a way to gain Clusters of Mastery through using your Cluster Tickets from the Battle Pass, by paying 50 Crystals per draw. You may get lucky and get an excellent cluster, but it’s quite unlikely, so it’s best to hoard your crystals to eventually buy VIP, Battle Pass, Premium or to help out your guild.

  5. Guilds—Guilds are a way to bond between players, many guilds share valuable info, provide friendship and a sense of camaraderie, but most importantly, you’re allowed to share equipment between players of the same guild. This means that higher level players can help newbies with gear, without fear of punishment - this is what Idle Rising is all about, socializing and growing stronger as a team! Don’t be a leech - do your daily check-ins as a “Thank You” for everything a guild gives back to you. Tip: Do not start your own guild but join an existing one, you’ll be hard-pressed to find active members which already aren’t a part of the top 5 guilds in the game.

  6. Skins Dealer, Hall of Fame, Referral System—If you’re f2p, you can completely ignore the Skins Dealer, the skins have no intrinsic value besides being cool cosmetics. The Hall of Fame shows you the top ranking players of all time! It’s automatically sorted by the highest level, but since Idle Rising is a sandbox RPG, you can sort by other parameters, and you can choose what you want to do in the game. Some of you will be merchants, others will compete with the top players, while some outliers play to simply level up one skill, becoming an artisan at it! Your game - your choice! The Referral System is a great way to gain referral points, the latter being used to purchase Premium items. If someone has invited you, ensure to enter their code as it will give you generous rewards and benefits the player who invited you when you reach milestones in the game, so there’s no reason not to do it. You also have access to your own code, so ensure that you invite your friends so you can play and prosper together!

There are some other tabs which aren’t mentioned, like Settings, which don’t require an explanation at all.

Moving on, your goal should be to

  1. Train your skills, especially Mining, Woodcutting and Fishing (for more Damage, Protection, and Speed) and the ability to wield better gear
  2. Move on from Goblins to Rabbits to a mob called Ghost of Ice - its drops are popular and in demand, netting you a lot of gold for each mob drop sold!
  3. Reach Level 20 so you can trade with other players directly and not through the Market.
